We need full time positioned people manning the security checkpoints of each terminal at our airports that our well paid and well trained. From what I understand, there's a very high turnover rate for this position and they only get paid a little over minimum wage and some are just part timers. I travel alot and have been to almost every major city airport and even more smaller ones and I'm totally amazed to what I see. I see many checkpoints with elderly people and what looks like high-school kids screening the passengers and I always wonder how safe I was when i jumped on a plane. If you think about it,this is someting that should have been done a long time ago. It's time that these airlines/airports take this issue seriously and they certainly can afford it and its sad that it takes a disaster to change things if this does at all change, as far as this issue goes. Just a note,I'm not saying that all these security screening people are doing a bad job or that this would have changed things but I would much rather see people that lool like "state cops" w/sidearms and that are very highly trained doing the passenger screening. I've always felt that way and not just now.
