So two days after ditching Win7 for Ubuntu... I'm pretty impressed. Everything is rock solid. The UI is nice and tight. The fonts and lines are nice and crisp. It feels like everything is working together, I've got pretty much everything I need. I like it I like it!

I'm contemplating making Vista my last Windows, but I haven't decided yet. I like to play games occasionally, and dual booting isn't a solution. I'll see when the times comes. I've got a couple years in any case. I'll either switch to Win8, or switch to Ubuntu/Debian. I'll be switching in any case :^)

Oops, I should have mentioned that this was on my secondary machine. I'm still a Mac guy so I don't think you can call me a convert in the truest sense of the word. However, I definitely won't be needing Windows ever again

I've been running Mint 8 on this box since it came out (and briefly Mint 7 before that), and it's running so well I have no plans to change it.

I haven't found an easy way to play encrypted DVD's. (I.e. DVD's I bought), so for now only my laptop runs Ubuntu. I've had a few problems with Excel 2007 files when opening in Open Office 3.2, too.

Other than that, I've been happy with Ubuntu 9.10

There's a wiki article on how to install libdvdcss to decrypt DVDs, I believe it just tells you to run some script in /usr/share that another package contains.

Same here. Mint is an easy crossover from Windows. Only trouble I had was getting my Canon printer working thru wireless. Took a little effort but finally got it. All that time in the terminal reminded me of the DOS 3.1 days.
