Since 1945, how many nations have progressed from third world status to second world status?
What's the reasons of their success and why other nations failed?

ask if the class feels that they think its right that the World Bank, takes away the soverignty of any country they help.

that is to say if you need the help of the world bank they will give it to you providing you adhere to a number of conditions. The biggest being that they control all Monetay and Fiscal policy.

Monetary = the printing of money and setting of interest rates
Fiscal = all government spending,
-which means health care and other social serviecs take a DISTANT back seat to servicing the debt...

How do major western factories/corporations affect the standard of living for underdeveloped nations? Are the jobs offered in impoverished countires good or bad?

A poser for class.

To rise above being a Third World country, is the economic improvement at the expense of poorer countries or richer countries?

Is increased productivity the best option to raise standard of living?

Is the drug trade a viable option to raise standard of living and or DOES IT REALLY improve SOL.

Pose an example: 5 or 6 years ago a professor revealed that the SOL of Mexico actually DECREASED
after the oil development.

Is the corruption by leaders of Third World countries that line their pockets responsible for the continued
poverty.

How about the $$$ spent on arms when first gaining power that is used to STAY in power?

My wife has lived and made friends all over the world, but not in Venezuela - insanely jealous of the
affluent US. How much of a hindrance is this jealousy?

With sooo much aid going for arms and corrupted officials, is aid a help or hindrance?

Is required education paid for by the state the ticket out of the Third World?

Hope this helps.
