If you're poor, often the choice that you have to make is between having a roof over your head (which might fall down in the rare case of an earthquake) or being homeless. Many of these people are simply getting the best quality that they can afford.

What's sad is that if we didn't have building codes in the US, people would still choose the cheap & shoddy option so that they could get a nicer car.:rolleyes:

when you have limited recourses you build things to last
what you are saying was done in the middle ages
kill the homeles and we solve the homeless problem
which was in practice for centuries in europe
see problem solved
why bother to build them a house to kill them in the house??

Nothing wrong with the ladder in the pool. probably more stable then with it on the ground. he is even wearing googles


EDIT: Ok I just noticed the electric drill and being on top of a ladder probably made out of conductive material!

I was watching a show on that actually, they were saying in the proper configuration it can be as strong as steel, and it's plentiful in those areas, and grows fast. Very versatile material and it's organic! :biggrin:

You know what happens if you throw the end of a live drop cord into a pool?

Not a god damned thing.

Electricity will flow from one prong to the other. Why do people seem to think some kind of gypsy magic will cause the entire pool to be electrified?

Also that homemade transformer is crazy. What is it actually made of? I'm guessing the outside bit is sheetmetal, but what the hell is forming the windings in the middle? Also, is his left hand his ground clamp or something? o_O

Looks like a junkyard iron transformer and they just hook up current and pray it comes out the pointy end at whatever voltage.

Something tells me its not UL tested/certified.
