I can't find any mention of this here so -

if you got one of those "free after rebate" Visor Deluxes from CompUSA and need (or just want) a modem for it, Staples has the Thinmodem for the Visor on sale for $49.99. There is a $30 rebate good for purchases made through 1/31 and, if you have a $10 off $30 or $40 coupon, the final cost is $9.99. Rebate form and modem info.. This may be B&M only and just what some stores have left as the sale has been going on for a few days. Just bought one in Tallahassee this afternoon.

This is ridiculously friggin hot. I've been looking for one of these for a long time and the best I've found is about $40 on ebay.

Looks like all of the $10 off coupons dried up after Xmas. $20 is still a good deal.

Be careful if you decide to order online from staples.com.

The rebate form specifically states the following:

"Purchase Thinmodem, from any participating retail or online stores*.

*CompUSA, Fry's, Future Shop, J&R, RCS, Staples, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Cardaccess-inc.com or Palmgear.com.

Notice how it says "BestBuy.com" and not plain old BestBuy... and notice how it says "Staples" and not Staples.com.

Someone might wanna call and verify this before they buy from Staples.com and lose out on $30.

Has anyone gotten the Netzero trick to work?

My attempts haven't gone through. Wondering if it's just me.

In response to alaskadan's message, thanks for the heads-up regarding valid stores. Although I didn't call Staples, I was VERY happy to see that my invoice simply said STAPLES, and not STAPLES.COM. Having no Staples in my town (or anywhere near) didn't give me many options for getting the modem. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

Quick question...and, if this is not the appropriate place for such a question, my apologies. I'm new to the Forum (and Forums in general) and this is only my 2nd post. With that stated, I have a brand new Visor Pro. Now I'm having regrets and wondering if I should have gotten the Prism instead. The additional memory of the Pro hooked me...but the color on the Prism has me doubting my selection. Also, I just learned about how MEMPLUGs can be used to provide tons of extra memory to the Visor. Anybody have any firsthand advice? My main uses for the Visor would be using it as an organizer, but am psyched about having the modem for checking emails and internet away from home. Just found out that my cell phone is compatible and might also by a cable for wireless access on-the-fly. Does anyone have any feedback on the how the B&W display is for quick views of web sites and such?

Again, if this question is not appropriate -- please tell me and I will learn my lesson.

The rebate form that comes up on the above link asks for a serial number. Does anybody know what is supposed to go in there? I cannot find anything that looks like a serial number in or on the box.

Also, lets hope that the above link is still valid. When I got on the cardaccess-inc.com site, it indicated the company had been taken over by Proxim shortly after this rebate offer began. Although there are references to a $30 rebate on the site, they all seem to be dead links. Hopefully not, but it seems possible that the above link is an overlooked artifact of a rebate that was pulled. It may be something to consider before cutting out the UPC and mailing it in.

it said on the rebate form, read...
look at the 'back of' modem itself, there is barcode, below it is the serial number.
Hope the rebate come.
There is no such product in proxim.com 's product list. Its not yet totally "moved" to them.

Chinnboy,

I couldn't find it anywhere on the box or documentation, but if you put the modem in and hit the options key (below the home key on a visor deluxe), and then hit "Get Info," it will give you a Serial Number.

I'll second the question ...

Anyone able to get Netzero to connect using Rally's link?
