My T30 is out of warranty since it was a refurbished one....so I'm on my own on fixing this. Any ideas of how I might fix the one slot that doesn't seem to want to be recognized?

I went ahead and bought another ThinkPad T30. One with a warranty.
Does anyone know of a fair asking price for a T30 with one bad ram slot, a 20GB hard drive, 256mb RAM?

I assume you tried the one stick that does work in both slots, and it failed in one, right? If so, try flashing the bios. Other than that, you will need a new motherboard.

Yes johnjkr1, I did that slot switching technique like you mention above. How do I go about flashing the bios? I'm willing to give it a try.

Yes, that is correct. That was the only way I could, for certain, verify that the one slot was defective. I did a search on flashing BIOS and was led to IBM website where I finished download, carefully read all instructions and just completed the flash. I just now tried the slot again and no go! Since everything works fine I might not sweat it. It's just that I like things to function properly.
