thinkpad SL410 HDMI problem

hi guys

I have thinkpad SL410 (win7 32bit, 2gb, 250gb) that's hooked up to samsung 46" 1080p LCD TV. I'm having a problem with this hookup.

First of all, when I play DVD files from HDD using Intervideo WinDVD, it plays fine. no problems there.

But when I play actual DVDs with the built-in optical drive, the TV loses reception, acts as if it's tuned on to a dead TV channel (grey blank screen with snow, complete with loud static noise.) I then have to fiddle with fn+f7(switches screen from external to notebook LCD) and then it goes back to normal. it's almost as if the physical HDMI connection is loose or something, except it's not.

i suspected hardware problem, mainly ODD and graphic chipset. As for ODD, i ran diagnostics software and it passes just fine. as for graphic chipset, i ran diag also and it plays fine as well. also is the fact that when i play DVD from HDD, using the same software, it plays just fine. it's only when i'm using the actual DVD with optical drive that the pc+tv setup acts up...

any idea would be appreciated. thanks
