OK. Nobody answered my question: does it come with an AC adaptor, or do you have to order it extra?

Has anyone/everyone else been hassled by the Microwarehouse "police" who want proof that you're not planning on reselling these A31's?
The phone rep today said the deal with the free Palm was a mistake intended only for a GSA (gov't) schedule. Congrats to those of you who
got it. I was trying to buy four for the kids, but was ticked off by the hoops they wanted me to jump through before they'd ship - and cancelled my order.
Now the free Palm deal is dead.

By the way, I bought three A22's, a T21, and an X21 from IBM over the past two years. They're all still working great. IBM makes solid laptops (although my Toshiba and Fujitsu have also been great). Best of all, because they're so widely used, it's easy to find upgrades like DC adapters and extra modular-bay drives on auction sites.

Yes, I was hassled. They asked me to fax them a written letter stating i would not resell the laptop that I bought. So, i did. I only bought one though, wierd.

I'm just guessing, but I doubt it. It has a place to plug in a microphone on the left hand side. I am completely in love with this laptop. I only have had about 30 minutes to play with it, but it is something else. Thanks guys for the great deal.

Now I realize why this is so #$%^&*( huge.

I compared it to my T23. The T23 has the DVD on the right side and PCMCIA on the left.

The A31 has the PCMCIA and the DVD/CDRW on the right and a second open Ultrabay 2000 on the left side of the machine -truely a desktop replacement form factor.

I have no idea what else I need to put in there (I do have a spare floppy drive, but who uses those any more ;))...

If you actually want to use this as a laptop away from an outlet, you might consider adding a li-ion battery to that spare bay.

Hey guys, I'm having a lil trouble here finding the IBM A31 that comes w/ the free Palm M125 for $1149. Is the deal dead? I can only find the $1199 deal.

One of the advantages of the A31 is that you can put another drive (HD) in that extra bay. I think you can find those pretty easily.

This is brand new. When you get a refurb, you can tell.
It's a disapointement that it doesn't come with any CDs, but not big deal.
There's no valuable software you would want to back up.
For the OS, the CD is easy to get from whatever sources, the only
important thing is the serial number.
If only it had video-out, USB 2.0, internal microphone, and internal Wi-Fi.
So any suggestions for that empty bay?

Sounds good Daye.

About video out. It does have the S Video output ! S Video -> RCA adapters are cheap ! So it should be fine.

Anyone knows of any good Wi-fi card deals around?

USB 2.0 will be good too but i could live with 1.1
