I have to agree. My wife LOVES her old T23 and won't let me replace it at all... not even with a T43! Someday I will be able to pry it from her and get a new one.

On the T43 page, I'm not sure where they get there numbers for "You save" amount (unless it's the warranty). If you configure each one the same, you'll get different amounts (the one on the left has a faster cpu, the one on the right has a larger screen). If you configure the middle one with the same ram, hdd, & optical drive as the one on the left the final price is less (which makes sense as the cpu is slower).

I don't need a new laptop so I better stop looking at different configureations before I find an excuse to buy a new Thinkpad...

Does the fact that these things are now Lenovo still make them as good as when they were carrying the IBM name?

No. Lernovo has been the actual OEM of ThinkPads for a long time.

I'd say X-series but to each their own.

I've been tempted to get the new X-series tablet PC.

I have a T42P for work, 2ghz Pentium M, 2GB of ram, Mobile FireGL graphics, 1 inch thick and 5 pounds. Incredible.

X-series is the ultraportable.

We use T series in the office, and X series in the field for sales force.

Nothing has EVER been proven to beat the Total cost of operation (TCO).

Sure you can save a few $$ buying Dell, Toshiba, or Fuji..... but all my experiences show that the bottom line the IBM's are a much better investment for businesses.

Now, would I buy a Lenovo laptop for personal use? Probably not.....but I wanna play games n' such.

my $.02

Do all T43's come with the fingerprint reader? I noticed that the middle and the right ones do not have it listed like the left one does.

Lenovo wasn't an OEM of Thinkpad. The T and some Rs are made by a join venture between IBM and the Great Wall of China Co. (80% owned by IBM). That facility will be transfered to Lenovo. So the same people who built Ts will continue in the future.

Others Laptops are outsouced to people like Wistron.

Flexview is brighter and has better viewing angles than non flexview screens, but it will shorten your battery runtime slightly (I believe it has two lamps instead of just one).
Unfortunately only the 15" SXGA and 15" UXGA are flexview.

The flexview is very pretty. I use both an alienware 51m (the 16 inch screen model) and a t43p 15 inch and i still like the ibm. Plus the battery life is unbelievable. On the alienware i get about 2 hours 15 minutes while on the ibm i get 4 hours movie time(u also have the 9 cell battery which sticks out from the back). Anyway my .02.😉

I did loved my T40 except the non-sense 1024X768 screen resolution limitation w/o the dock station.

I was thinking the exact same thing until i tried the fujitsus. Nevertheless Ts are very good laptops but let's not forget the fact you are also paying for it. For $1500(lowest T43) you can easily get a dell or toshiba with GB or ram, 128mb video card and more.

Well I finally bit the bullet and got a T43. Thanks to the OP for the sale link. Hope it ships before 11/25/05 like it says.
