Take the job and use it as resume padding while you look for a more appealing company to work for. There's no such thing as corporate loyalty, so you need not feel the need to reciprocate.

It's 9 hours. I work 11 hour days three days a week, 16 one day because of my volunteer (read experience)TV job. We do get a half day though.

Have they given you time to consider the offer? If so, do a little more research on the company. I've worked for a few unreputable companies before. He does have some legitimate reasons to be concerned. If the pay is good, take it, but go with caution. Besides, corporate loyalty is dead as SunnyD says. Too many jobs on a resume only looks bad if you get fired, or resign without anything else lined up. Besides, I've found you can put too much on a resume. Stick to what's relevant and always hold something back.

That's a great stepping stone job. Get you some real experience and later time to look for another job and daytime interviews without having to take time off work. Your excuse for leaving it will be only because hours sucks.

Sounds like the company could flop big-time with all the n00b management. Would you want to be associated with that?

I still don't see how anyone can give this kid advice without knowing any details. Offering the job to him when he doesn't even know what the job IS is a HUGE red flag to me. Is this a company like Primerica? Is he going to be working a pyramid scheme job? Those are jobs he should turn down even if it's the only offer he has on the table right now.
