i dunno why, but i feel like trying some cigars, i dont have a cigar box or anything, just would like to try to see if i enjoy them, i dont want my first experience to be a crappy one, but dont want to drop a crazy amount on my first either.

does anyone have any suggestions for a first cigar?

bought.....

so here is what i got, 3 cigars, all CAO.

the store i went to was amazing, over 900 cigars, all in humidors, a smoking lounge, etc.

got a one blade guillitene.

a lil humidor baggy

CAO CX2
CAO Cameroon
CAO Maduro.

howd i do?

UPDATE
Well, i smoked the Maduro today.

greta atmosphere, about 8 other guys all 40+ in there, smokin talkin, it was good to listen and what not, they were all friendly comfy seats etc, but now my clothes reek of it which isnt the greatest, but that should go away.

dont plan on smoking to much, but i loved it, very relaxing, and very good just overall taste.

got it lit up properly, and used the table cutting method which cut the perfect amount.

i may smoke maybe twice a week, at max, but who knows.

next up is the Cameroon, then the CX2.

I was anxious with cigarettes. was it a good idea, no. I did a few times, nothing changed, things only got worse. did I quit, yes.

relieves stress? only for a short period of time.

makes you look cool, no. you stink and your breath smells awful.

you only get one shot at life, many will say. but if you think about it, it's not really worth it when you see things from the beginning to the end.

I buy the cheapest cigars I can find. Usually the $0.59 ones from the local booze store. I won't need the tobacco anyways. :)

As for your orignal question go to a smoke shop try some out. Don't buy the local grocery store brands. :disgust:

EDIT: I don't smoke cigars/cigarettes...just so you know...

Cigars are good every once in awhile. I just puff them into my mouth and get the flavor without inhaling (correct way I believe?). I usually just smoke swisher sweets.

yo....

a few things first:

NEVER buy cigars from grocery/gas station/convenience store...
NEVER buy a cigar that hasnt been properly maintained
NEVER buy cheaply made cigars, it will ruin the experience...

first thing you we must establish is, what kind of smoke do you like? have you ever smoked anything before? if cigarettes, do you like fuller ones such as camel wides, or something less potent, such as a camel light, or ultra light cigarettes...or something inbetween

second. how long do you want to be smoking for? i've smoked a stogie that lasted almost an hour and 1/2...

third. what flavor, if any non-natural, do you enjoy? (coffee, fruity, etc.)

four. you must learn how to properly cut, light, and smoke a cigar...

i suggest you go to www.jrcigar.com and read up on their JR university...its got LOTS of good info...

after you have figured out how and what u wana smoke, try and find a tobacco specialty shop in your area...most cities have at least one or two...

if you want to ignor all that and just try it and see if you like...i suggest starting on something flavorfull but not too strong...cigarellos are a good place to stare because they are small, not harsh and come in lots of flavors...

that being said...i reccomend Kaluah cigarellos...you can buy them in packs of 8 or so for around $1 stick...

if you dont wana go with cigarellos...
Drew Estate makes a cigar line called: Java...it is EXREMELY tastey (especially if you like coffee) and not too harsh...it comes in many sized from waffe to churchill
Acids are also VERY good smokes (i think drew estate makes these too)
they come in a couple different varieties...i suggest getting a medium sized one with the BLUE label... (this was actually my first smoke...and is still the best ive smoked to date)

if you want to try a couple different things, i STRONGLY suggest a CAO falvours variety pack...it will run you 20-30 and come with a good assortment of flavor and size...not to mention CAO makes some NICE stogies...

if you find you are liking the smoke and decide you want to keep some on hand to save time/money...you will need a humidor...i suggest starting with a small one (20-30 cigars) and moving up as your collection accumulates or if you plan on aging them... www.tampahumidor.com makes a very fine product at very reasonable prices...

hope this helps...PM me if you need any more info

Try something mild to start. Macanudo or Romeo & Julieta are good brands.

If that's too much, you can even try a flavored cigar. Vanilla is usually decent.

correct, it is not common for people to inhale cigar smoke because it is so much stronger than cigarettes...it will usually make you sick and ruin the experience...

oh...i forgot (in my last post)

NEVER SMOKE A CIGAR TOO FAST...you WILL get sick and be unhappy with them...

also, BlancoNino...swisher sweets are NOT real cigars...its a cheap gas station immitation...go buy yourself a nice CAO flavor and experience tobacco at its finest :)

i know where theres a tobacco shop, but not exactly what they carry...

the CAO flavours variety pack sounds like a good idea, guess ill have to learn how to cut and light one though.

also, how should i store the other cigars until i smoke them? since i do not have a humidor.

get the shops number...ask if they carry the fallowing: romeo y juliet, drew estate, and CAO...if they carry these they are usually a decent store...also, you might ask if they have a walk-in humidor...if they do...there will be TONS to choose from...if you go in the place and it is just a tobacco store with a display case for cigars...i would leave and buy off the net (again, i like www.jrcigar.com) because there is a large chance the people running the place dont know how to properly handle/store the cigars...

yes...the CAO flavours are all VERY nice smokes...differnt sizes as well so you can figure out what u like better (time-wise). all you will need to cut is:
a cutter of your choice (doulbe-guillotine, single-guillotine, punch, or a V-cutter) you dont need an expensive cutter, dont spend more than a couple bucks on it
a good butane torch: NEVER light a cigar with a standard gas lighter (zippo, bic, etc.) some wooden matches are ok...but your best bet is a butane lighter...you dont need to get an expensive on right off the bat (because they can go up to $100+) ...just get a decent one at walmart or the tobacco shop...i wouldnt spend more than 10-15 on it...
again, to learn how to cut, light, smoke...visit www.jrcigar.com and click the link to JR University...also, i'm sure if you google "how to cut/light/smoke a cigar" there will be lots of info...i cannot stress how important learning how to do these things are...ask advice from the shop owners...they should know, if they dont, leave...

usually a good shop will have stogie bags (zip-lock type things that will hold humidity)
if worse comes to worse...leave the stogies in the celophane wrapper...put them in a ziplock along with a damp paper towel...should be fine for a couple weeks...other methods can be found online..again, lmk if you want more info

WTF are you talking about? He's asking about Cigars, not Cigarettes.

Why would you be anxious with Cigs in the first place? Secondly, you DO NOT INHALE Cigar smoke.

I don't consider myself an officiando by any means , but compared to a Honduran, Dominican, etc. the Cubans I've had were just completely different experiences. The flavor is much more prominent (in a good way) and they're much more full-bodied. I recently got an H. Upmann tube (~$15) and it was very nice, but not quite as good as some Montes I've had. I've also tried a few different Bolivars...also good, about on par with an Upmann.

I look forward to trying out more as time goes on. He mentioned he would be getting a few new boxes in... I should give him a call. :)

Try a Helix, either the blue or purple line, great mid priced cigar for the novice cigar smoker. They wont set you back much either, maybe 5 or 6 dollars a cigar. Trust me, you wont be disapointed with a Helix.

I prefer Don Tomas, Olar Fuerta and Rocky Patel. Cigar's are personal, you'll have to search for the ones that suit you. Order a combo pack, perhaps one with a cheap humidor, to get started.

DO NOT get one from the local gas station for a dollar.

...let me say that again...

DO NOT get one from the local gas station for a doller.

A good, inexpensive cigar that I rather enjoy is an Ashton Corona. It's a 5-1/2 x 44, very nice, and usually around $6-7.

DO NOT get one from the local gas station for a doller.
