Thinking of startin a job website/forum

I work in recruiting now and know how to get a new site in front of recruiters for large companies, so this isn't far fetched. There's a problem with the big job boards like Monster, CareerBuilder, HotJobs because, while they're free for candidates, they're VERY (often prohibitively) expensive for companies. Recruiters are looking more and more to homegrown recruiting sources, but most of them really don't know where to go on the net, they're not net savvy enough to sort through all the small stupid stuff.

Something straightforward, searchable and free - just your average offshoot forum - would be a godsend to recruiters and would be better for candidates because their resumes would be seen by employers who can't/won't pay the exorbinant prices on the big boards.

What do you think? Would you post a resume (maybe without contact info - contact by PM?) on a site like that? Any domain suggestions? RecruitThis.com is taken. 😉

When looking for a job, I look for job postings. PERIOD. Idon't post resumes hoping someone sees them.
 
I would post my resume just to support you... and because I'm about to graduate 😉


how about recruitme.com? getajob.com? somethingalongthoselines.com?

I'd do postings too, of course. Have any idea how much postings on the large boards cost?

Oh, and one of the big things in recruiting now is finding "passive" candidates - top quality people who aren't out actively looking but that would take a better offer. If you have a resume out there that's several months old, they'll be looking for that when they have a fitting position.

Which still costs the employer money that they are not always willing to shell out.
 
I think this will be a great idea. actually, I was thinking of doing something along these lines, maybe we can work together....

And I'm sure you already know this, but make sure you aren't violating any non-compete agreements you've signed, and if you're employed now that your employer will not get the right to any intellectual property created on your own time.

I might use a site like this from the employer side, though monster worked fine for our last hire in May (thanks again for the PM help back then).

In a few years when I'm a job seeker again I'd probably be willing to post a resume, though only as a supplement to my own searching.
