Thinking of signing up for Vonage.

I'm thinking of switching over to Vonage. Sofar it looks like a pretty good deal but I'm sure there has to be some issues with it.

So does anyone use it or know of some one that uses it?

Thanks.

I have it, it works pretty good. Let me know if you need a referral. :)

One of my co-worker uses Vonage, when ever I call him on this line it breaks up worse then his cell phone. Guess you need a very stable internet connection.

I have it, I'm on it right now. Your internet connection is the weakest link, in my case Adelphia. But I have it set to forward to my cell when Adelphia goes down, so it's not all bad. I abuse it to no end, like 2500+ minutes a month, only thing is there's a 4 hour limit on calls before it kicks you off (to prevent phones being off the hook forever), most never hit that, but I do when talking to my wife cross country :)

I've been using it for four months now and have never had a problem. My phone bill is much better now, thanks in large part to unlimited long distance and no taxes.

Vonage FTW!

I have a pretty good ISP so I should be good there. Only thing I'm not liking is it may eat my bandwidth while using it.

Hope I don't get a call while playing BattleField2. :p

Voange doesnt hurt my DL's even when my wife is chating away on it. If you really load your broadband the vonage voice quality sucks a bit. I have had it for 4 months now I will never go back land line again.

It doesn't eat your bandwidth but if you're using your bandwidth, it tends to break up outgoing voice so bad to the point where the end receiver can't hear anything you say. Also they say it works with faxes but I've had a hell of a time getting it to send faxes properly, especially multi-page documents. Users of Bittorrent or P2P programs should not use Vonage or any similar service as even miniscule usage of your pipe tends to screw things up. I have 5mbps cable with 384k upstream.

I had it. My main issue was that when my cable dropped for even a second, the phone went down too. The phone does *not* automatically reboot. Only when I did not get any calls for a full day did I realize it.

i have had sunrocket for 2 weeks

it worked good for ~1 week, then there was an outage
it is working now, but not so good. but usable by my standard

my wife is still borderline , but wants to ditch sprint/local(POTS) as the bill is $88 monthly

That's a problem with your box then, mine reboots within minutes of cable coming back online. If I try to use it or someone calls me it resets it as well. I've never had to reboot the box manually.

Also, I have it on full quality (96kbps), and I've been in AC2/WoW, downloading on BT, never had an issue with quality. Only time it suffered was when I was on WoW, roommate was on EQ, we both had downloads going, and even then it wasn't horrible.

Broadvoice sucked for me. Vonage is great. The only problem I had was when lightning fried my VoIP box and it took the very Indian techs a month or so to figure it out and authorize a replacement.

I'm a SunRocket n00b, and so far the voice quality beats out the Vonage service my buddy has, but he might have a differnet bandwidth situation, my "gizmo" is behind the router instead of ahead of it. So far the service has been excellent, with the exception of the outage Fobot mentioned. $200/year and free phones (which are nice, btw) isn't a bad deal, beats out the vanilla pots we had through Qwest.

There is also no activation/canellation fee for Sunrocket so its a very easy and clean deal to try out VOIP. (If you cancel Vonage within 1 year of servce you owe them $39.99)
