Thinking of purchasing I7 2600K

Hi Everyone,

With BD being delayed again, I am thinking of picking up an I7 2600K cpu. I did have a few questions though.

1) What is the average speed for O/C people are getting. Is 4.9 ghz normal or is that for the "lucky few". What is a more realistic O/C? I'm seeing anywhere between 4.5 to 5 ghz with 1.45v

2) What is the Motherboard to get (in terms of chipset)? I thought I read the one to get now is either a P67 or Z68, with a Z68 being the choice between the 2

Thanks

1. is always YMMV... has to do with batches and how they were made.... launch SB's can be 4.6ghz... but u also have to note, these guys are voltage sensitive... pushing too much voltage will allow your SB to fly... but it will also Kill it very quick.
YMMV = Your Millage May Vary...

Also most of the 4.6ghz+ screen shots are EPEEN shots... quick benches b4 they floor it to more realistic values....

If you see voltage is higher then 1.4V, i personally would ignore it as being "safe" 24/7, unless ur definition of safe is less then 1 yr @ constant load.

2. Z68 is proabably the top dog as of this moment.... has a lot of nice features... i would probably go with the Giggy UD7 or higher if i was going to get a Z68.

z68 added the ability to use IGP and a discrete card AND overclock.

Also added the SSD caching thing.

Thats all.

2600k is worth it if you are going to make use of hyperthreading, if not get the 2500k.
