Thinking of picking up a burbie..is it a good idea?

I have seen this thing since December. I have been reluctant to pick one up. I am thinking of getting one to have, so when I upgrade my main rig I still have something to surf the internet. just having a hard time justifying it though. Although it may be fun to paint and customize the look. Any thoughts or justification/rationalizing? Do you own one? Do you like it?

Not that I am a big flamer*, but I was about to be all "flame on! when I saw this... because I wondered what the hell a burbie was.

From Directron.comBonus: This machine includes a pink handle at no extra charge! Pink handles normally cost $39.95 when purchased separately. This machine includes a purple power button!

But then when I looked at the price... Thats actually a pretty good deal seing as you would only need a cheap cpu/ram and you have a nice litle seti crunching/protien folding/ web surfer. I think I may buy one.

[*to clarify flamer* not ghey, but one who flames people on forums]

You better have a generous supply of paper bags with eyeholes close at hand to place over your head so that there is no chance that one of your friends might recognize you in possession of one of these things.

haha, figured I would just paint it like I have seen on these forums, makes it look a lot better

I had one and thought it was pretty cool. Just understand the limitations of the mb. It is pretty compact and heavy........the pink handle is real nice. For what it will do it's a neat little machine.

Do I sense a little sarcasm about these from the person who wrote the ad.........😀

...............edit.............
That is a killer price for an emachine though (unless they burn up in a month or so).

It caught my attention! I have some spare parts that I could use with it and was ready to give it some serious thought. I've been wanting to set up a cheap file server. Sure wish they had left some way to add Ethernet.

Has anyone read the user reviews? Seems like more headaches than a case of cheap whisky.

Ethernet via USB will work fine. You can get a tiny SMC or Linksys USB NIC for about $15+/- at Compusa.

My question is can this motherboard handle a Tualatin (I think that's how to spell it) Celeron CPU?

I had one for a while...Celeron533. It ran very well and upgraded to XP no sweat. For a backup machine on the cheap...go for it.
