Thinking of getting an itouch, how do you like them?

Thanks for any thoughts, I looked in the other forum and there are only like 2 posts on it. I dont want to spend $500 on something that isnt worth it.

Are you a student? If you are you could take advantage of the Student discount. If not, what are you going to be using it for? Wait till tomorrow and see what comes out.

It's nice if you don't need massive amounts of MP3 or Video storage, they only go up to 32gb. It has a real nice UI, but the screen isn't as bright as the iPhone.

Like Baked said, what are you gonna use it for? 🙂

Best damn PDA and video player I've ever used. A regular iPod is still a bit better music player though.

VERY important question to ask yourself and the forum 🙂 I bought one, returned it later realizing I had no use for it.

I agree. I like the GUI, but for just plain music playback, I prefer the dial wheel.

Still no on-the-fly playlist tho 🙁

first, wait till after the mac expo. there could be updates. the itouch is definitely cool. jailbreak it and hack it, and it becomes 10 times cooler.

IMHO, if you want a web device, it's best in class, one of my guilty pleasures is my iPhone, and I fucking hate Apple products.

Love my Touch, Coverflow on it is something I still find myself fucking with, even when I don't really want to listen to music. I got mine the first month they came out, had never owned an Apple product before. Playing with Coverflow never gets old, I don't understand why I like it so much, but I'm still amazed by how cool it is. I wish I had the 32 gig model, I will upgrade when Apple releases a 64 gig - with bluetooth I hope.

Wait until after WWDC. Starts on Monday and they're going to announce new things. Not sure if there are any new iPod Touch announcements coming, but just wait for at least a week.

MP3's and videos. I currently have a zen vision-w but its just too big. I wanted something smaller and that could link up with my audio/video receiver and other things that ipod works with.

Forgot to mention, I would for sure use the wireless options on it as well. My crackberry's web and small screen make me wish i had something better.

As for the mac expo, i only read that its for iphones, seems weird that they put the 32g itouch out in feb/march only to release something much better.

I am going to get the 32g if I get one.

If only they supported SDHC expansion...although if they did there'd be no need to pay $300+ every year to upgrade to the newest player 😛

Currently love my Cowon D2 because of that fact. Granted, it doesn't have the ability to wirlessly surf (screen would be too small anyways), but its absolutely awesome for music playback and pretty good for video as well. The 16GB SDHC cards are very affordable @ $70 or less and can be surprisingly fast as well. Can't wait for the new 32GB cards. Well I guess I can, because they're sure to be way too expensive when they first come out.

Damn you Apple.

Lol, sounds like me. I bought a Zune last year. Ended up hardly ever using it (I don't really like music to be honest, save for a few songs) and sold it a few months after I got it. Meh.

flash your ipod with rockbox firmware.
Rockbox wouldn't change anything, the regular iPod hardware (i.e. iPod Classic and Nano) isn't built around anything besides music; the screen is too small and the scrollwheel doesn't leave you much to do anything else with. That's why the Touch is so much better at these things, but since it doesn't have the scrollwheel it doesn't quite nail the music controls as well.

Reading up on this now, looks pretty damn cool!

I love mine. I got the 32GB version and take it with me everywhere. I have it to play music in my car and surf/email everywhere else.

Looks like nothing changed for the ipod touch, looks like I will be picking one up! 😀

Thanks for the thoughts, jailbreak looks like a must.

So no signs of anything new or a price drop for the touch? I'm looking into getting maybe a 16gb one but don't want to buy one, then have something big happen.
