Thinking of getting a Jeep Wrangler...

I've had two vehicles I've owned my whole life (I'm 22). A Ford Probe (89) and a Grand Am (97) both of which have had very little power and even less of a "fun factor" while driving them.

Recently I've been thinking of getting a Jeep Wrangler. They look like fun to drive and seem to be chick magnets 😉 I'm wondering what everyone has heard about them. Are they a good vehicle? Anything I should watch out for (besides taking corners too sharp... 😉)? Any specific year better then the other?

Also, I'm in Minnesota so we have some rather harsh winters. This would be my only vehicle so how does the hard top work in the winter? Is the heater able to keep the vehicle warm?

Any comments would be helpful. Not looking at spending any more then (probably) $13k or so. Definitely not going to get a new one.

They are fun! and for the most part are pretty good at staying warm in the winter (IF you have a good top)
I dont really consider stock ones that fast though, especailly if youre thinking of getting a 4banger...

I am sure you could find a nice one for 13k...but wouldnt you rather have a 99 Cherokee Classic?!

I know of a good one, well taken care of for less than 13k... 😉
PM me if interested!

All the drawbacks of a truck with only moderate benefits. They don't tow much, not great on gas, no real room inside to haul stuff, the soft top doesn't seal really well (or so I've heard). The advantages are that they are good for off-roading and that they are easy to maneuver in a city since they are smaller.

I had an '88 and even then the heater was fine in the winter w/a hard top. Be sure you have someplace to store the top in the summer, you won't want to be taking it on and off. An aftermarket soft top is a good idea.

Good for off-roading, gridlocked city driving, not much else. Terrible aerodynamics, so at freeway speeds it'll feel very sluggish even with the optional V6.

I-6, unless they changed over recently.

Its still an inline-6.
I usta want one real bad, but I got over it.
I'd still take one though, don't get me wrong.

They are a lot of fun, especially if you have any areas you can take it off road. They're especially fun in the mud. I'd definitely go with a hardtop in Minnesota, my friend's softtop was very hard to heat comfortably even in New Orleans "winter." 🙂

get dual tops or at least a hard top and a bikini top. $13k can get you a 99-2000 Sahara, which is top of the line. Do not get the 4 cyl unless you despise moving. Try to get the optional dana 44 rear axle if possible.
