Apparently you think having a flight cancelled the day before is no big deal!?!? In case you have no idea how purchasing a ticket works, it gets a little expensive to book a flight the day before...

It really does not matter how early you book your flights. Airlines, all of them, cancel lots of flights. What's special here?

actaully they did you a favor, would u rather have the flight canceled and know about it a day before so you can make different plans.

or 1 hour before the flight leaves when ur s.o.l. which is when most get canceles

Yeah, but there are reasons for cancellations. Weather conditions or mechanical, in which case it is better for them to cancel than to put you on the flight. The poster did not tell us anything about the situation.

I've flown Cathay Pacific and I find them to be a terrific airline. Sorry buddy, these things happen. They didn't give you any incentives for canceling with such late notice? I figured they would...
