The 5 speed is much more bearable.
I've had 2 Sentra's, 95 and 96, and both have been nothing but excellent in terms of reliability.
Sure it's built like a tin can but it's never left me stranded.

if you were to get a 2001 Chevy Prizm, your mpg would be great, they are down right reliable, great a to b car, not a chick magnet though.
The current Sentra has been around forever and should not be a huge reliability risk.
