DUDE!
Stop jerking off trying to find the worst possible way to implement your idea, and instead work on writing a simple "hello world" project, and then do your dictionary randomizing project. You've already wasted more time researching writing it in C++ than you would have getting a "hello world" project done, and have ultimately achieved nothing.

Per the first post in this thread, OP's website idea: https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...-past-age-not-year-born.2620493/post-41246420
"What I mean is like, Sylvester Stallone was 30 in the first Rocky movie, so my website would show "Rocky 1" in the list of movies where the star was 30, regardless of the current age of the artist."

Could probably do it in the new Sheets AI:

That's great - now sit down, read it, and start working through it. Don't just take the dopamine hit of a new book and let it collect dust.

Five weeks later the book was lost under a pile of empty Funyun bags and junkmail, and was never seen again.

When I looked up www.pastage.com (which is what I wanted the website to be called) it took me to GoDaddy.com and said the domain cost $2800.

Is it 100% nessesary to pay this if I really wanted the website to be called this?

Is there no other way to have the website called this without paying the $2800?

Uhh yeah if the domain is taken, it's taken. When you see it for sale for a high price it usually means it's registered and someone is hoping to sell it for top dollar.

Try different TLDs like .io or .us or .org etc. .com is always preferred but sometimes have to compromise.

Also rule #1 about registering a domain is never talk about it anywhere, don't even search for it, if you find one that's available that you like, just register it. it's cheaper than a meal at McDonald's these days, if you end up not using it then you let it expire.

Think of a domain like a phone number, if you want a specific number and you call the phone company and they tell you it's taken well they can't assign it to you because if someone calls it, well how would it know who to go to.

I prefer "pastage" to "agehistory", I think pastage just sounds better.

I also think .com is just easier to find and remember.

I plan on getting a construction laborer job soon, maybe if I'm hired I'll buy the $2800 domain.

This would be one of the dumbest decisions I've heard of from you yet.

So many to choose from though. What quantity is "one of"? Top 2? Top 5? 10?... We could have a page spanning thread debating the relative demerits of all the stupid ideas :^D
