Thinking about visiting the States

I'm Canadian and I love visiting the U.S. almost every year for 30 days. My parents have
a place in Winter Haven, Florida. Florida is great in the winter but with the heat and humidity in the summer you'd be inside all the time.

Make sure you visit Chicago. I have relatives there and it's my favourite place of all time.
I've been there dozens of times and have never had a problem with anybody. It's safe for such a large city. It's also the most American of U.S. big cities.

I'm not sure what that means.

Chicago always seemed to me like it's trying to be the New York of the Midwest. For better or worse it seems to have that same feel.
 
I'm not as crazy about Chicago as the poster above. I just don't find that much there of interest compared to other cities.

It's home to two signature food items - the Chicago style hot dog and the deep dish pizza - but that only goes so far.

Of course there's plenty of neat stuff to explore like any big city, but...

Also I hear the violence has increased a lot?

See mah trailer park - we got new plumbin! I mean, really. CA is the best state IMO.
