Thinking about upgrading to a D80

With the eBay cashback going on right now, I can get a brand new D80 body for $425-$450. My D70 body should still be worth around $200-300 since it has a pretty low 12k shutter count, so is it worth $200 or so to upgrade to the D80?

Also, used D200s are around $475-575 after cashback...is a D200 notably better than a D80 besides the faster speed and better build quality? I know they have very similar sensors and viewfinder, etc.

Which would be the better deal given that both are around $400-500 after Cash back? The only big difference is the the D80 would be new while the D200 would be used.

Edit:
Got the D200. Found a mint one on eBay with <10,000 shutter clicks, original box, manuals, etc for $650 shipped. $650-$195 MS Live Cashback=$455 for a D200.

Sold my D70 body for $300. Total price of upgrade=$155.

the d200 will meter through the lens, the d80 can't meter with AIS lenses

I don't think you can go wrong with either bodies. What lenses do you have?

I just have my Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX right now...it's driven by the body's AF motor so it should be fine with both since it works great with my D70.

I *might* try some AI or AIS lenses since they're so cheap on eBay...but that's a relatively minor point.

the D200 is worth the extra $100 over the D80. $200, no. but for an extra $100, absolutely.

D80 prices are a steal right now especially with cash back. I don't know much about the D200 but I may be interested in your D70 if you decide to sell and its in good condition.

Not really; my D70 is already larger than current mid-level cameras like the D80 so I'm used to it

Well the first 2 Cameras I had I kinda just sold for profit...the EOS 300D which I bought for $190 with 2 lenses and then sold for $400 as a set, and the EOS 400D kit which I bought for $220 new and sold for $500.

My first serious camera was the D70; I would have kept it a lot longer, but my friend asked if I was interested in selling it anytime soon and I just happened to see the sweet deal on the D200. So now I should be good for a year or two (until prices on the D90 or D300 fall way down, anyway ;))

D200 just arrived today...only 5200 Shutter Actuations, looks brand new. Previous owner included original box, original plastic bags, original manuals, original CDs, original cables, replacement LCD covers, eyepiece cap, never-used strap, a wired remote shutter release cord, and a wireless remote shutter release cord...this is an even better deal than I originally thought :D
