I think he's leaning away from the V6 since it isn't as mod-able. Mazda? Zero aftermarket there tho the car does look sharp! I've driven V6 auto and wasn't impressed at all.

I have the 6i 5-speed and it's rather quick itself. I could just imagine how much better the 6-cyl would be.

I stuck the car in manual shift mode to hold a gear. Even when I just mashed the gas it didn't pull as hard as my 4 banger (which is down a few hp).

I agree. I'm not arguing that the 5 speed isn't faster. But the tranny shouldn't make a huge difference when you're staying in one gear. I don't know how the gearing on the auto compares to the 5 speed tho.

Car and driver rated 6s over the accord. Accord is the best mid size sedan/coupe (?), but 6s is lot more sporty.

My only gripe with the 6 is really the interior. All that silver plastic doesn't cut it for me and its bound to wear out. The Accord interior looks like it came out of an Acura.

I don't regret my choice of the LX V6 over the EX i4! But if you already have the i4 I say stick with it.

I'm not buying a mazda 6, the interior build quality is worse, long term quality is questionable, the equivalent engines are weaker and there are no mods/parts for those cars. I remember noticing in an MT that the 6i manual is not any faster than the I4 auto accord. The current accord automatics are very good, they have an extra gear over older style 4 speed autos and they only suffer a half second in acceleration for both the V6 and the I4. This is another reason I'm not too compelled to buy a stick for the next car.

Fast, good interior, room for mods, and functional.

$25k'ish.
