lol @ making a living gambling.

even if congress did not ban it, you must have a lot of disposable money

I started with $50 back when online gambling was legal...ish. I made decent money. You can do it if you are good at the game, disciplined and have good bankroll management. That said, for everyone who makes money, someone loses just as much.

More so. These sites exist because they make money for their owners. Only the house consistently wins. Most every gambler I've known has had a conveniently selective memory about their overall won-loss record.

a bit confused. did some research it it seems to say that online gambling isn't legal or illegal. i googled best online poker site, and it got a few results saying Bovada is good. any thoughts on this?

You got lucky. Bots/Scripts are the way to go if you are out to make money.

I didn't get lucky, I knew how to play. Luck happens in one game, or one evening, or one lucky month run. I played for years. Made thousands of dollars. There is a lot of luck in poker. But overall the long haul, the good players will rise to the top.

There are plenty of poker players who have made much more than they lost. The rakes that the sites tack are significant over the course of the billions of hands they play. But the cost to any one individual player is very minimal. If you're a winning player, a rake is just the cost of doing business.

Not really, you just have to be able to play a lot of tables at once. I know a guy who makes a living playing like $1/$2 tables, but he runs 12 tables at once.

You have a few options. None as good as Pokerstars, but still fine.

Bovada (the US version of Bodog), if you don't mind some things that are geared towards recreational players. Note: You can't play on Bovada if you live in Maryland, New York, or Washington.

Carbon Poker. Note: You can't play on Carbon Poker if you live in Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Utah, Washington, Washington DC.

Seals With Clubs. This is a bitcoin-based poker site. Not much traffic, but if you are restricted everywhere else, it is an option.

I win more than I lose playing Poker, the house makes nothing more off me than whatever the rake is. If I lose $500 in a night I'm losing it to a person like you and not the house. The house always comes out ahead because ranks add up, especially when it's an online site that has thousands of live tables at any given time.

thats for the link for bovada and carbonpoker.

i with to play texas holdem no limit/limit.. which service is better? should i just sign up for both??

I use Bovado. It's pretty good although I only play the very very small pot games. Players don't really take it serious so its value isn't too high as far as practicing for real casino poker or home games go.

Online rakes weren't that bad IMO and the game was truly fishy for a while. Some people made decent coin.

Probably doesn't help anyone here, but just a couple days left to claim your Full Tilt money: http://www.fulltiltpokerclaims.com/

We even had ATOT play money games on Pokerroom.com about a decade ago. 😀

damn it.. I forgot what my username and email addr was on Full tilt.

I think I had ~$100 on that acct.

I've played on Bovada and pretty much all the other online places like pokerstars, full tilt etc. I've made some petty cash playing online, but at the end of the day it's just a fact that it's too easy to cheat, and you don't know if the site is even legit (no auditing of results etc).

Live games in various places is much more entertaining IMO, and you stand a better chance at making money. Lots of fish show up at the live games in most places, you'll quickly recognize those who are not the fish.

Years ago you could do your homework and make some money.

People didn't know what they were doing.

The level of competition has risen, so that you need a larger bankroll and much more knowledge to net any sort of profit.

If you are serious about poker online or otherwise just visit the 2p2 forums:

Ever since "Black Friday" when the DoJ effectively shut down online poker in the U.S. it has been slim pickins. Your best bet would be Bovada. However you can't use database tracking tools/HUD effectively since there aren't any user names that persist. Also I think the max tables you can play is 4.
