Do it, pussy.

I want to know what we're called, but the guys that hate shiny cars and don't have to obsessively wash their car like a bitch will somehow take over the world. The people I know that know the least about cars wash theirs the most. It's pathetic. It's the easiest way to figure out how serious somebody is.

i've seen a lot of pics that look great. Though i've never seen it in person so i can't say whether it'd be a good idea. different strokes anyway though.

are you really going to drop a few grand to do that? Don't think so.

When I think of flat black, I think of a super old Ford Probe from the 80's that some kid paid $100 for.

I remember back in the early 80's my dad had a 71 AMC Gremlin. Every summer he would go and buy a bucket of rustoleum flat black paint (it was the cheapest) and a couple brushes and me and my sister would go nuts and give his car a paint job. The paint/body/undercarriage was the undoing of that car as it was driven to the junk yard eventually, but I never would of guessed my dad was just a head of his time rolling in the murdered out hatchback 71 AMC Gremlin.

My hypothesis is that the majority of the population does not know what a car prepped for paint looks like, and thus this is new and cool.
Do they look like this? I don't know. It's just I imagine they do. I think the only time I've seen matte black is when Ricky bought a few cans of spray paint intended for mailboxes from Walmart and sprayed down his 85 IROC Z one morning.

Funny how trends work out sometimes. Back in the 70s in California I guess it was pretty popular to spray brand new vehicles primer grey. Part of the whole surfer scene thing.

I'm guessing the matte grey your talking about though is a dark grey. It could be etch primer/sealer as that usually tends to be a dark matte gray.

Asstacular.

Pretty much sums is up.
As far as matte and flat black. Most paint mfgers interchange the terms. Matte and flat are not supposed to reflect any light and are thus a very dull color. Satin is what you should use if you want to paint a car a dull black color as it will keep some of the luster and shine.

Agree it makes it look like you were too poor to actually finish painting it...

The matte greyish goldish color on the reventon is HOT.

There is a matte black GT-R in Dallas, I don't think it looks that good on the GT-R.

No. It looks like you did prep work and then ran out of money to finish the paint job.

I do like where that guy got his pics, though.

Yea that garage is epic for photo ops!

I am kinda feeling the Zed 4 with the matt finish, OP if you like it go for it it does not look totally bad.

I'm not understanding these "matte black" cars that just look like normal paint without clearcoat. Those cars are shiny.
