Thinking about getting PS3, tell me about the games.

I like creative freedom in my games, I am tired of linear scripted stuff, I am also tired of "sandbox" games that just feel tedious and lifeless. GTA 4 was the only open world game that I enjoyed because it felt like a real place. Just Cause 2 was fun for a while but the world did not feel "alive" like in GTA 4 ditto for Far Cry 3.

I also liked Deus Ex for empowering the player to use different solutions, but also for creating an interesting world to explore.

I have played pretty much all PC games that appeal to me on that level, so I would like to venture to console land and see what's available.

So enlighten me on the following games any other recommendations based on my aforementioned preferences would be great.

Infamous 2
Red Dead Redemption
Metal Gear Solid 4

GTA 5 is fantastic.

Red Dead Redemption is like GTA but in the old west with a few twists. It's really a great title.

Infamous does the good/evil thing. You can be good to people and help or evil and do things for personal gain and use your powers to intimidate and kill. Your appearance changes depending on which way you go.

Finally got Unchartered 2 for $10. It's an adventurous story lined game, probably too linear for any replay value though, but for the money it's worth it me thinks.

I know nobody else on the planet will have this view, but: I have played all the GTA's and GTA V was overall very good. I love the games.

Red dead rising was a piece a crap. If you want to do missions like herding cattle and lassoing a horse this game is for you. I just really despised it compared to gta and quit it after several hours.

I'd recommend Fallout 3. Excellent game, but if you have a gaming PC honestly I'd just get it for that.

I really like Sleeping Dogs right now. It is fairly scripted but you get to pick and choose what you do next, and you have options to just goof off. Overall though it's a great game, I like the Hong Kong setting and gang affiliations.

Yeah MGS4 is very not open world, in fact common complaint is that its more movie than game. But you might enjoy that (but if you haven't played the MGS games you might just be going WTF more than anything, actually even if you have their story is just plain ridiculous).

Hmm, really if you like open world games, unless you're really interested in playing GTA V now (which really it alone might be worth it for you) or I guess Red Dead really catches your fancy, I don't know why you'd bother with a PS3.

For the PS3, really their exclusives seem best about being linear story driven affairs with ok but nothing to special gameplay (Uncharted, Last Of Us, God of War).

There were a lot of cut scenes in MGS4, long ones too but it was still a great game. Some people enjoy the story and others jump right into multiplayer with not a care. I know people who do not even play the single player of anything.

Both inFAMOUS games are outstanding games! The Last of Us is a must-play for any PS3 owner.

Demon's Souls
Valkyria Chronicles
Last of Us
Uncharted 1, 2, and 3
inFamous 1/2
Heavy Rain
Journey
Ni no Kuni
God of War 1, 2, and 3
Dragon's Crown
Ico/SotC if you haven't played it

Last of Us
Uncharted 1, 2, and 3
Heavy Rain

Are any of these along the lines of the new Tomb Raider game? I did not enjoy the linear and QTE gameplay in that game.

On a side note I did enjoy Darksiders 2 because it was a cool world to run around in even if it were mainly combat and puzzle solving, still fun.

Last of Us and Uncharted are linear adventure games but they are much more well done than Tomb Raider.

Uncharted is pretty close to Tomb Raider.

I didn't play Last Of Us yet, but it is the same developer so I doubt it is TOO different.

Heavy Rain is entirely QTE + story.

Mass Effect was awesome, cannot wait for the sequel, which is being worked on.

Last of us
Fallout 3
Fallout 4
And sequel to fallout 5. I want one every year.

Farcry 3 sequel. The game was far from perfect, but it was pretty fun for a few dozen hours.
