Is this the X800GTO2 everyone is talking about?

Thinking about getting one of these until the 512MB 7800GTX's are out.

Submitted my email to auto-notify.
Currently praying :D

If it stays out of stock, maybe that'll keep me from wasting money until the 512mb 7800GTX's come out. The price for the 512's will be ridiculous though. Unless the X1800XT does a good enough job, which I doubt it will ;o

In a sense, yes. It's about the equivalent of a x850xt / x850xt pe if it can hit their clocks.

It has an easy 100% unlock to 16 pipes, and the core is the R480, from the X850XT/X850XT-PE. Stock the cards don't have a really high end cooler, but still they normally hit XT speeds, and some lucky people have hit much higher than PE speeds. With an upgraded cooler the cards seem to go even higher, and run cooler, but there are pretty few people who have posted before and after adding their cooler. Still - I would take it over an 6800 Ultra considering how much cheaper it is. The card used to be a much better deal though - I debuted at less than $200, now its $250 if its even actually in stock.

I had been considering this card as well, but have decided to go with the 7800GT now that it is down to $289. Actually, for a week or so, I had actually decided to just go whole-hog and get the 7800GTX, but with such a good price on the GT, I figured that I'd get that instead. I was really excited about the GTO2 when it was $199 -- that's great bang for the buck -- but I can't see it at the current prices when I can get a 7800GT for $10 more.
