Thinking about getting a PS2, but which one is the best to get?

Get a black PS2 slim and some scotch tape. Buy Swap Magic and you've got a "modded" PS2 😛. the slim PS2 was designed to use buttons that get pushed down to indicate that the disc "flap" is down. All you do is take the PS2 cover off and tape these down with scotch tape and you're done.

This also isn't what I've heard, I modded my PS2 this way after having a set of plastic things that were designed to push on those buttons without opening the case... well they worked like crap so I just taped them down.
 
Go for the old fat one + network adapter & any IDE hard drive = hdloader heaven. All of my games are backed up to the hard drive, so I get much faster load times plus no chance of ruining a disk. Also, the chance of disc read error's are nearly gone.
