Found this on amd3d.com

"More news from the Inquirer ... VIA KT333 is just a normal KT266A with DDR333 suport, but the KT333A will also include v-link, USB 2 and AGP 8X.

"VIA IS MAKING TWO variants of its up and coming KT-333 chipset.
Vlink 512 MB/s technology as well as AGP 8X support will be part of the Via KT333A. Vlink 512 will be implemented through a new south bridge that will have USB 2.0 support as well."

In other words if its strue, stay away, way to go Via, again.

I don't think that is any reason to stay away from VIA. The KT266A is a very respectable chipset.

Dude,
A) he isn't talking about the KT266A
B) he isn't saying stay away from VIA, just the KT333 because the KT333A is coming out and its way better

"KT333 will be a KT266A with DDR 333 support and these new features will come several weeks after initial launch of "non" A 333 chipset. Sources even closer to Via responded to our last article and said that the KT-333 was now unlikely to launch until the 20th of February this year."

Good grief, they said 'several weeks after' not even a month, why even bother to release the KT333 in the first place. I think they're just releasing the KT333 for name sakes.

It doesn't look like we'll have a Soyo Dragon + Ultra KT333A with USB2.0 and DMA/133 Raid until July now. I could wait.

Point is, the KT333 north might very well be a pin compatible replacement for KT266A, allowing another round of
mainboard freshups without having to make new designs.

KT333A chipset combination, which may or may not use the same north but definitely need a new southbridge for
faster V-Link and USB 2.0 will very obviously require design changes to the mainboards.

That's why we're going to see "KT333" (new north plus existing 8233(A) south) first, and "KT333A" (same or
different new north plus new 8235 (?) south) second.

regards, Peter

i'm assuming that the new .13µ thoroughbred processors will be socket-a and therefore compatible with the kt333/kt333a boards...somebody tell me different if they know.

i think people are getting confused about what via is actually releasing link

from what i understand the chipset about to be released will be called kt333, but its supposed to have the features of the chipset that was suspected to be called kt333a

so in other words they are releasing what we think of as th kt333a, but under the name of kt333... so it should also have 8x agp and the faster vlink bus

Tetsuo316: the t-bred should work with all current and future socketA boards (well the boards that support 133mhz fsb, which means anything based on the via kt133a chipset and newer)

most likely it will just require a bios update
