In other words if its strue, stay away, way to go Via, again.

I don't think that is any reason to stay away from VIA. The KT266A is a very respectable chipset.

A) he isn't talking about the KT266A
B) he isn't saying stay away from VIA, just the KT333 because the KT333A is coming out and its way better

Good grief, they said 'several weeks after' not even a month, why even bother to release the KT333 in the first place. I think they're just releasing the KT333 for name sakes.

It doesn't look like we'll have a Soyo Dragon + Ultra KT333A with USB2.0 and DMA/133 Raid until July now. I could wait.

Point is, the KT333 north might very well be a pin compatible replacement for KT266A, allowing another round of
mainboard freshups without having to make new designs.

KT333A chipset combination, which may or may not use the same north but definitely need a new southbridge for
faster V-Link and USB 2.0 will very obviously require design changes to the mainboards.

That's why we're going to see "KT333" (new north plus existing 8233(A) south) first, and "KT333A" (same or
different new north plus new 8235 (?) south) second.

OK I will stay axay from any KT333 based board, but will hook a KT333A as soon as possible.

i'm assuming that the new .13µ thoroughbred processors will be socket-a and therefore compatible with the kt333/kt333a boards...somebody tell me different if they know.

i think people are getting confused about what via is actually releasing link

from what i understand the chipset about to be released will be called kt333, but its supposed to have the features of the chipset that was suspected to be called kt333a

so in other words they are releasing what we think of as th kt333a, but under the name of kt333... so it should also have 8x agp and the faster vlink bus

Tetsuo316: the t-bred should work with all current and future socketA boards (well the boards that support 133mhz fsb, which means anything based on the via kt133a chipset and newer)

most likely it will just require a bios update
