Do you want to finish your degree there or just work? Why not finish school then bail? I don't know much about NZ's economy, but I personally wouldn't want to migrate to a different country without any credentials.
 
Most of Florida is a shit hole. The only decent parts of the country cost a shit load to live in, and they still aren't perfect. Not sure how another country might compare socially and economically

Yeah, that's my biggest worry...

And looking at their immigration requirements...it's kind of a nail biter. They have a lot of professional personnel needs, but with those needs come requirements.

Well, after dancing for a couple of hours in their HORRIBLY designed immigration site...this seems like the route I would be looking to take...and I'm gonna need a BS for that...

Silver Fern visas
The Silver Fern visas are designed to bring young skilled people into New Zealand. The basic requirements are set out below.

Silver Fern opens 27 April
The Silver Fern Job Search Visa quota opens at 10.00am on 27 April. Places are limited and in very high demand; we expect the quota to be filled very quickly. If you miss out, you might consider applying under our Skilled Migrant Category.

Silver Fern Job Search
The Silver Fern Job Search visa allows people to enter New Zealand for nine months to search for skilled employment. There is a limit of 300 places per year.

To be eligible you must be outside of New Zealand, be aged between 20 and 35, and meet all of the qualifications requirements, English language requirements, and have enough funds to support yourself during your stay.

The application process and payment will be online. Applicants will have to provide evidence they meet the requirements to an Immigration New Zealand branch for assessment and verification. More about the Silver Fern Job Search visa.

Silver Fern Practical Experience
Holders of Silver Fern Job Search visas who successfully find skilled employment in New Zealand may apply for a Silver Fern Practical Experience visa. This will allow them to work in that employment for up to two years.

To be eligible you must hold a Silver Fern Job Search visa, have an offer of skilled employment that meets our requirements, and hold occupational registration if it is required for the job.

There will be no annual limit to the number of people who can apply for the Silver Fern Practical Experience visa. More about the Silver Fern Practical Experience visa.

Seems like a degree from my University qualifies under NZQA...

I seem to be clear on all other requirements too. I guess two years down the road I'll have $5000 USD saved up and be ready to anxiously smash F5 waiting for the application payment process to open.

Thanks for the encouragement ATOT, I guess you'll be stuck with me for a couple' more years.

I've lived on all sides and types of places in this country, my dad lives in Florida and believe me: the US is not Florida.

Cool OP. I'm in a similar situation as you, except I don't live in the US, but I still live in a shit hole, just like you :awe:

I'm 1.5 years away from a degree in mechanical engineering and I've been considering to where I would like to gtfo. New Zealand and Australia are strong candidates, I've taken a look into their "Skilled Immigrant" immigration policy and it seems quite doable.
