i was thinking about being a paid urban fireman. how is it so much more dangerouse than volunteering?

Volunteer firefighters just make sure the forest doesn't burn down with the house. By the time a volunteer gets to the fire it is to out of control, so they will not enter the structor.

Oh, but I forgot to mention. You have to be in GREAT....GREAT physical shape. Its dangerous not to be. (or so I hear)

I remember way back in high school, we had firemen visit at our school. One fireman was explaining their daily routine, he says they usually work out, but then pointed to his beer belly, and says "as you can see, I skipped a few".

I have a friend going through training as we speak. He's a really big guy, in great shape, and very strong. He tells me that the training and courses are hard as hell. Some guys just can't hack it.

Even once training is complete and you've been certified there's no guarentee you'll easily find a job.

"Only who can prevent forest fires? You have selected 'you'; meaning me. That is incorrect.
The correct answer is you." -smokey the bear statue.
