most stations are 24 on 48 off . Not the best pay, but it's decent. Chicks dig it, and if you work for a more rural station, you get to have some fun. ie. Putting a lightbar on your truck and schtuff like that.

iv also been thinking about becoming a firefighter. that or the airforce. i just dont want to get into shape haha :) i think firefighters deserve a lot of respect and it reallys gives you an idea of the kind of person somebody is right off the bat. its the kind of thing you carry with you the rest of your life... looks good on resumes too

paid firemen or volunteer?

all my friends are volunteer firemen, it really went to their head
now they're really important, and much better than everyone else
they're also obligated to back their car into the parking places in front of the bar while they get shitfaced every night

They back their cars in so they can respond to emergencies in a hurry.

It's faster, and safer, to exit a parking spot if you back in. You can see where you're going MUCH better.

As for the OP: Being a firefighter is great cover for being a pyro :D

Are you going to be a rural volunteer fireman, or a paid urban fireman? It makes a BIG difference. Volunteer firefighters generally exist in less populated areas and respond to calls at their leisure. Paid city fireman risk their lives alot more then the volunteers, due to the types of fires they normally encounter.

If you havea any questions ask me, i come from a family with over 120 years of firefighting experience, and i will be one myself after college (volunteer)
