Thinking about a mini vacation, but where to go?

Looking to get away from July 3rd to the 7th with my gf. I'm thinking San Francisco, but she's not buying the idea. She wan'ts disney world, but we can't afford the tickets to the theme park along with the hotel and stuff. I just wanna go sightseeing. We've narrowed it down to California and Florida. With florida, i've heard the only things to do is the beach and walt disney. If i had the money I would go to disney world, but california looks much better.

Anyone have any suggestions? Any places in Cali to see?

Universal Studios and correct if I am wrong, but they have a place called the Everglades.
 
san francisco is a great vacation. i live there. i'd say definitely come here and i'll tell you all of the cool places to go. Don't go to all of the lame tourist stuff though. there are a lot nicer things to see.
 
oh and from SF if you rent a car, there are many beautiful places within an hour and a half. and even more within 4 hours.
 
ahhhh...i was hoping someone who lived in or near the area would reply! cool...so, I've been reading on expedia and the guides they give. now, of course i wouldnt even know the first thing to do, but I keep hearing about chinatown. i'm asian, so i'll definately pay a visit to the place. i've heard about fisherman wharf, but that's about it. my gf wants to go see hollywood, so LA might be a better alternative. any ideas?
 
What she wants to do is visit her relatives! I've had bad expereinces letting ppl show me around. last time i went to cali i went to Long Beach. it was horrible. we went to the mall and local park. the only decent place was disney land. i rather go off on my own and do some sigh-seeing. she's rather shy so she tends to stay away from that stuff. im hoping to change her, but she's leaning towards hollywood. i wouldn't mind hollywood either
 
If you are coming out to California, then there are many things to do out here. I used to live in San Francisco and I would recommend that, but if your gf wants to come out to Los Angeles, then you can come out here, visit her relatives, and then maybe go up the coast to get away from her relatives. That way you have an excuse. But there are many places to go in between San Diego and San Francisco. It just depends on what you two have in mind. Are you looking for some peace and quiet? Do you want to party every night?

Let me know since I have been to many places along the coast of California and would be happy to recommend anything that suits you and your gf.
 
i made her a deal by saying we could visit her relatives this xmas. we're planning to go back in december, but for now we wanna spend time together and i think san fran would be perfect. i prefer an island, but we're on a budget. besides, two young adults in their early 20s being away for the first time in their lives. kinda exciiting
 
San Francisco would be a good vacation for the both of you. You should do all the "touristy" things in San Francisco (they're tourist attractions for a reason), and you really could do it in one day. Then you have a few more days to play with and still see a lot of the city or go out and explore maybe Napa Valley, Monterey, or Marin County.

dont come to Florida unless ur going to Miami.... Miami is really fun and a beautiful city full of culture.. but all the other places in Florida is lame.
