So, my T-Mobile plan is almost to the $50 etf point, and I've been thinking about prepaid options. I really like the 5gig $30 Tmobile plan, but it only has 100 minutes free, and 10 cents per on top. I've been thinking of going tmobile prepaid and also getting a flip phone on Page Plus for voice and tying the two phones to a Google Voice number.
I don't have a land line, so the idea of having 2 phones is kind of appealing. And, given my current voice usage, the pp plan would last over 6 months, leading to a total monthly cost of $42 or less. The one nagging thought is that having the flip phone means that my outgoing calls will appear as a different number to whoever I'm calling. I figure this might be a little confusing.
I noticed, however, that new Droid 1's are going for $117 on Amazon. I'm wondering if I can turn off the data connection on the Droid, wifi and the google voice app for texting and using my google voice # on outgoing calls. Given that I have wifi at work and home, I figure that my texting and calls will be mostly covered, and my vibrant even has the mobile wifi hotspot feature on by default.
Couple of questions:
How easy is it to turn of the Droid's Data?
Can the Droid run google voice well?
What apps (other than 3d games. I'm not interested in them) won't a droid 1 be able to use?
