Go buy a new vacuum. I replaced my (5-7 year) old vacuum with a new one. Not even a very nice one. My carpet was disgusting.

I rebuilt our little dust buster vaccuum tonight. Had to take it apart and clean roller, reconnect a loose wire on the roller motor, and washed the dirt bag out. It runs a lot better now.
