That's a CO2 laser alright and yes that is extremely dangerous! Directing that towards something that tends to melt instead of burn could cause anyone in the room to be blinded because the puddles of molten material will reflect that invisible radiation into your eyes and since you cannot see it you cannot blink but you don't have to once you go blind. People that work with this stuff everyday joking say things like "keep laser beam out of remaining eye" etc. Um no thank you! :)

Collimate that output into a low divergence beam and you can start fires at great distances! They have a 20 foot cutting table in the machine shop with a pair of 500W heads and it cuts sheet metal like butter.

CO2's aren't very portable in this form and that's a good thing. 50W focused well could easily blow out a truck tire from across the street. That's just what a ricer needs to have in hand when they cannot face the fact their bee buzzing oversized chainsaw motor cannot beat a real hemi! :p
