<< Darwin will install on x86 but aqua wont. And the problem I had with your screen shot was there was still too much microsoft there. I could tell it was Windows and I hate the way Windows looks before you fiddle with it. BTW, I spent ~$1500 on an iBook just to play with OS X. It was WELL worth it. >>

you can get rid completely the taskbar/start menu and whole explorer shell, there are many alternative user interface shells, most widely used being litestep which is really a cool too with lots of themes, many very complex. I choose to stick with explorer for now because I dont mind the way it looks and performs in XP, but litestep was a must for me in win98, jeez I hated that OS

Ive tried litestep and darkstep and probably one or two more, but they never seemed to work well so I stuck with explorer. Of course that never worked well either...

ahhhh n0cmonkey, my fellow mac lover. i install XP on machines at work. i do not lik the interface at all. everything moves around. blech. osx any day...

i dont think linux is ugly at all. I like linux as use it as a server OS. blackbox is what I use, and there are tons of great looking themes for it

luna looks fisher-price-like...

why is my taskbar plastic?

it's an improvement over previous win OSs, but really, nothing too drastic, unfortunately.

i love this thread for checking out peoples' screenshots...should dedicate a threat entirely to it...like this one 🙂

<< damn enlightenment zealots....most E themes look like total ass, i've never seen one i'd rather have over black box. >>

Then you havent looked that hard. E is all about eye candy. Im a bb bitch and I still think E looks pretty.

I agree with dave8311... I hate desktop icons. I don't want to minimize anything to get at my apps. Quicklaunch is the way to go for me.

Desktop

This is XP and it runs great on my dual 550 cellies with 512 MB of RAM. It installed flawlessly and includes native drivers that 2K didn't (Lexmark 1000 printer, for one).

I'm having problems with my current Detonator drivers and IE6 (I think that's where the problem lies) but I'll iron those out, soon.
