Hey All,

Looking to upgrade and could use some advice....
I play about 75% games and 25% office type stuff

Currently running:
1Ghz Athlon
Iwill KK266 Mobo
512 Crucial PC133 Sdram
GF3 TI200

Looking for the best bang for the buck on the upgrade.
I know that the Northwood 1.6a have a good chance to OC to 2100?? (133x16?)

I think this would be a decent jump....yes???
I assume I would need to go to DDR also....PC2400 or PC2700??
I will be adding in a GF4 4400 minimum regardless....(getting ready for UT2)

I am looking for opinions on the processor and more importantly...the motherboard....

thx

Mark

My opinion if you will be happy with not the highest overclock but 133 and above...I would go with the epox 4bda2+ raid mobo at newegg...

It will give you ata133 support as well as give you something the king of ocing (asus p4b266 boards) do not....the memory ratios of better then 1:1 over 133fsb.....get to 133 and use the 3:4 ratio and get some pc2700ddr and maximize memory capabilities....

Asus boards are likely going to give the best stability at those high 150+ fsb speeds but even those with the lame 1:1 ratio means not much better then pc2400 ability....

Oldfart has this board (I am ordering it) and he hit 150 with his 1.6 and with the 3:4 ratio is running 400mhz ddr or pc3200 speed....This is where you can really get great performance....

If you want performance, you could always go the RDram route.

The new i850Es or Abit TH7II/Raid or Asus p4t-E
