Think I lost out?

I was at an auction this morning(one where they auction off the unclaimed luggage), and they had an ibm thinkpad p3 was all I knew was inside. and a mac powerbook(I think thats what you call um) I got a good look at the mac, and it was in mint condition, no scratches, etc, and looked fairly new. Only thing is that there is no guarantee that theese will work, and are sold as is. THe mac was in a case, with some other accesory. I bid on both, the thinkpad ended up going for $350+tax+10%auctionfee. Which in total would be $400. I stopped at $300. The notebook however, I went up to $550 and it ended at $570+tax and fee=roughly $640. All I could tell was that the powerbook had like 5 usb slots, and has a narrow screen(13' wide, and was not very high) , and all the slots on the bottom were filled(battery, etc) Only if I knew my macs. Think I lost out? or made the right desicion?

Depends on how new it was...what kind of Powerbook? There have been a LOT.

Was it grey, black, white, or silver? That's the general order of cost for Powerbooks 🙂

which side is more expensive?

Grey is the OLD (pre-G3) powerbooks,
Black is the first G3 powerbooks (lombard, wallstreet),
white is the iBooks,
silver is the G4 powerbooks.

Grey is cheapest/oldest.

I would've went $600 but it has a very narrow screen, which would annoy me, and no guarantee that it works.

it was a 12.1" ibook.
you would have to beat your balls if it was silver.

My friend saw it on the news channel and told me about it. It was at Miami International. I thought you would get some must have deals, but nothing really. They had like 400 pieces of luggage that are sold like as mystery bags, you keep whatevers inside( all digital devices and drugs have already been removed). THey only had thoose 2 laptops and a ton load of cell phones and cameras. I know the prices of the cameras, and people were paying the same price as if they were new.

if it helps the name of the place holding the auction was Mays Auction. I guess if you were to phonebook it in your area, and find an auction holder, you could probably get into some store-out-of-business auction.
