Think I have to take my dog to the vet

So annoyed and worried. I hope he's better by tomorrow. I think it'll cost a ton to figure out what's wrong because all his symptoms are random as hell. He's got not a lot of energy, doesn't seem to run right, stomachs bothering him, occasionally trembles and he keeps licking his junk. Have no fucking idea what it could be. Maybe he ate a leaf that fell off of a plant in the house?

I tried giving him a baby aspirin and a Benadryl later and the aspirin seemed to help a lot but eventually wears off.

Really hope it's nothing bad. Had to put a dog down last year and it was one of the worse experiences I've ever had. Fuck. 🙁

Has his appetite changed lately?

Have you changed his feed lately?

Best of luck,
Uno

Nope, hes been eating the same stuff as always. His appetite is a bit lessened but he actually ate a lot today...well, i gave him some meat and he ate it up lol.

I tried a new water additive (biotene) in his water. This *may* be it, but hes been using it for a while now and hes been fine. Thanks for the advice.

time to get the shotgun and take him out back

That kind of post about someone's sick pet is not appreciated here.

This is your one warning on this matter.

How long since he's taken a shit? Is he dry heaving at all?

It seems like he gets really uncomfortable right before he takes a dump, and then afterwards he's way way better. He took a shit this morning. Maybe a bit later too? I dunno. Nope, no dry heaving.

That's good. Probably doesn't have bloat then, which can be deadly.

also what type of poo is he having? Are you sure its "normal"?

Well, I think there's a connection to the plants because they found a couple leaves in his poo the other day...

It smells awful is all I know. It looks pretty normal though.

One thing with this dog is that he's really, really dramatic so that may be a factor here too.

Don't give aspirin or any other OTC analgesic. By the time you give him enough to ease any pain it will have eaten a hole in his stomach lining. Ibuprofen or Tylenol are even worse, just don't go there. Get him looked at by a vet.

I'd deff would get blood work done to check WBC for infection. They'd give him antibiotics if WBC is high. Sounds like some intestine thing. Eating something bad could have triggered it. Also kidney or bladder infection. Blood work ASAP.
At least have some blood work done. They will probably insist on X-rays also. Those are costly and seldom show anything. Blood work will give the best indication to go by.
Dogs can come down with diabetes so easily and fast. That you want to know ASAP.
Blood work would rule that out too. Or confirm it.

Vets will prescribe aspirin for short term. Usually for joint pain, however.
But NEVER give a dog non-aspirin pain killer.

Thanks guys. Wish I still had some rimadyl. I won't give him more than 1-2 baby aspirins a day (more like 1). I'll prob give him one either in a few minutes or in the morning. But he's sleeping fine. Also I obviously give him food with the aspirin. I think he'll be alright.

Nerve wracking not knowing what's going on because he can't talk. I'll def do whatever the vet recommends. Hopefully it's just antibiotics, that's not too bad.

Baby aspirin is ok for canines.

OP, I hope he gets well quick.
