I checked today and the 12v rail on my 400w Rosewill is only pushing 11.484-11.525

That sux, this thing is only 8 months old and when I got it, it had no problem staying above 12v, somtimes nearing 13v. Guess its back to the hunt, got that 144 coming in couple days😛

FSP FTW!

Just had to say it, since when you ask what power supply you should get everyone's gonna recommend the 450w Fortron from NewEgg for $50.

Then someone will chip in with "the seasonic 600w is teh uber" for $160.

Then everyone will start fighting about Antec "quality control issues."

Just wanted to complete the whole thread by myself.

Happy new year!

But it is the uber.

I'd recommend if you want to overclock, a very nice seasonic s12 500w, enermax liberty 500w, antec NeoHE 500w,

Only if you aren't running a very high-end system would I suggest a 450w forton (psu is important, don't want to skimp IMO). Such as a 6600gt, an opteron 144 oced, 1-3 hard drives, a few fans, optical drive, nothing POWER HUNGRY.

If your PSUs 12V is varying by such a large amount 13-11.4 then you are probally best getting a new PSU. the seasonic is a very good PSU, the AKASA PaxPower PSu series is pretty good too, although not in the same league as the seasonic.

No doubt it's teh uber, but not necessary for about 99% of users.

By your specs, even if you're OCing, the Fortron would be good, as would any of the PSU's that rice quoted.

I agree with rod. If you used software to read voltages, they are likey wrong. Have to use a DMM for accurate numbers. Most of the Rosewill are rebadged ATNG/Coolmax, so they shouldn't run that far out of spec.

But if it turns out you really need a new PSU, it is hard to beat those new Fortron/Sparkle lines. Go with the PFC/full range voltage models - they are worth the extra in my book.

Ppppphaaaaaaaaa!!!! Funny! I almost spit out my coffee!!

I happen to agree. Unless you are running OC'ed nVidia vid card (hammers the +12v)and OC'ed CPU, then some of these PSU are over-the-top. A solid 400-500 watt PSU from a QUALITY company is likely good enough.

sticky at the top of the cases & cooling 🙂

i just watched the bios health for about 5 minutes and it stayed in between 11.484 and 11.525. This wouldnt cause a random reboot/lockup mabe once or twice during a 4-5 hour online sesion of BF2?
