Think I found me a new hobby/addiction...

I purchased my first firearm last year to take hiking/biking around here in Alaska. I don't want to start any "Which caliber gun is best?" arguments, but I settled for a Glock 29SF. It was light, easy enough to carry around in a chest-holster and hopefully reliable and rugged enough to survive my short trips into the wild.

After a few trips to the range and the expense and hardship of getting 10MM rounds, I needed something more economical to shoot, so I ended up getting a Browning Buckmark .22 for plinking and target shooting. Shooting as well as the maintenance part of gun ownership has been a blast.

I usually make trips to the gun shop at least once a month to check for ammo. While there last month, I bought this beautiful Kimber Custom II Stainless and a Colt M4 Carbine .22LR by Umarex. Now, I'm eyeing this Colt Delta Elite. Someone please help...

I own an Umarex M4 Tactical, which pleasantly surprised me in reliability over the A2 and even many A3 G.I. issues. My buddies Buckmark is a hoot, and Kimber kicks ass (although I'm not too much into toys... kidding). I Salute You, Sir... have fun.

22 will kill dead. Some old timers I know hunt dear with em. Not humane IMO but they do it. And the ammo OMG so cheap... What is it like $18 for 500?

What was the question BTW?

Bad choice on that colt 22lr wannabe. If you can, I'd unload it in favor of the S&W M&P where at least the controls are actually similar to a real AR. That, and considering how much better it generally is compared to the colt already, the 2nd gen is even better.

Otherwise, nice choices in guns although I'd pick up a springfield before a kimber. Maybe eventually pick up something like the advantage arms 22lr conversion for that kimber and then you can shoot 22lr through the kimber and start to develop some muscle memory on the 1911 platform.

That is actually pretty decent, especially considering the magazines. Although personally, I'd choose the following:

$400 Spikes M4 complete upper with bcg and a tungsten buffer
$100 any major brand stripped lower can be found for this price or under now
$80 daniel defense/armalite/+$20 for a G&R lpk
$140 magpul ACS stock with all the goodies like buffer tube, spring, latch plate, castle and buffer

Total of $720. I'll use the rest for like 5 pmags.

EDIT: Just to be clear, when I said M&P, I meant this guy:

Kelvrik do you know a good place to make/get a bolt catch roll pin by itself? I tried the assembly route... lost that part. Have like 5 ARs so no hurry but colt wanted $29.99 + $11 shipping.

smith makes a nice SS .22mag revolver. A single shot solution for coyotes, cats and rabbits. Has a hell of a blast. Sends the bears running for cover.

I'm not too familiar, but since you mentioned colt, I thought I'd put in the disclaimer. I know colt's have some differences in their lpk, but I think it was just their trigger pin, so this would just be a regular bolt catch roll pin?

I would think brownells and midwayusa would have plenty for you to choose from unless you want something specifically "colt" branded.

I'll eventually get a real AR. I did see the S&W. This was an impulse buy, and I didn't do a whole lot of research or thought when I bought it. Either way, I think I'll have a lot of fun shooting the Umarex. A Springfield is definitely in my future plans 🙂 I'm also thinking of getting the Glock 20 too, and I'm gonna need a bigger gun safe.
