Think I broke my router

Howdy,

I got an MR814 router a week or so ago and did something to screw it up. I was attempting to set it up as an access point with my SMC router as the primary. I turned off the DHCP server setting and possibly something else. Now I can't access the router to change any other settings. I tried using the reset button on the back of the MR814 but that didn't help at all. I've plugged a laptop directly into the Netgear router via a cable and the lights come on meaning it's connecting but I just can't access the MR814 via typing in the IP address of 192.168.0.1 I used the first time or the IP address that my SMC says it has assigned to the MR814.

Any suggestions? WOuld a firmware upgrade reset all the settings back to how they were which might help? Or am I totally screwed?

Thanks.

I did a search for Hard Reset on their site and didn't find that page for some reason. I guess I'll try that in the morning. Thanks for finding that link for me.

np, it just seems silly that software settings could totally disable your router. There should be a bonafide way to reset it to all factory defaults. Let us know how it goes

FWIW, I've rendered an SMC router inert by setting options, I don't really know which ones did the deed. :) However, the factory reset brought it back to reality and I sorted it out.

I did that too, unfortunately. I had MAC filtering on and didn't put in the MAC address of the one wired to the router. 30 frantic minutes later after figuring out about there was a hard reset I was back in business :)
