it has always been the policy to allow hijackers to have some freedom untill you can capture them. the idea was don't anger them, let them relax a bit till the authorities can take them out.
your idiocy that you call bravery would only have made things worse in MOST CIRCUMSTANCES. I hope your idiocy doesn't spread so that everyone trys to be a badass in every hostage situation, cause it ISN'T THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE THINGS.

The terrorists said they had a bomb, are you gonna stand up and get blown to your death or wait for a supposed landing somewhere else so you can be ransomed over to your government. They didn't know they were gonna die, if they knew they were headed for the WTC or the Pentagon, those terrorists would be dead right now and those innocent people would be alive. They were clueless, that was part of the plan.

I heard on CNN that on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, the passengers took a vote and decided to beat the crap out of the hijackers. Shortly thereafter, the plane crashed. Whether or not the hijackers got briefcases and laptops slammed over their heads they didn't say.
wow i had no idea this was so inflamatory. I sent this to a couple of friends of mine from school and i got just about the same response. Wow. If it is the desire of the ppl here, I will deleted this. Really sorry 
You don't know the strategy the hijackers used, we know they didn't just flip out their swiss army knives.
From the cell phone calls we know they were armed with knives and box cutting blades, plus claimed they had a bomb. They very easily could have held a couple of people as hostages with the blades at their throat to demand compliance. We've already heard how some of the crew/passengers fought and lost their lives. What more do you want from these people?
As for that nutcase Colin Ferguson (sp?), was it that unreasonable that no one attacked while he was in the middle of unloading a gun into people?

Besides, we don't know how many terrorists were aboard the flight yet. What if half the plane's passengers were terrorists? Not very good odds. Some of those people had wives and children to think about. Would I have done something? I would like to think so. But I'm a 22 year old grad student with nothing to support but two lizards. If I had a wife and a kid or two, I would be thinking differently. However, once I knew what was planned, it wouldn't matter any more. Many people on the plane probably thought that this was a hijacking for money and not a suicide mission.
However, I do agree with you in that if even half the people on that plane mobilized, the terrorists wouldn't have been able to stop them all.

I, too, wonder what happened on those planes. I also wonder how 3 men with knives could take over an entire plan of people, but your post doesn't just ask those questions. It says that men in this country are essentially cowards and it's unwarranted and not accurate.

think about the implication. you are saying that those people on those planes were cowards. How is that not offensive?
1) you are judging the recently deceased
2) you aren't fairly analyzing the situation as it was on those planes.
3) you weren't there, you don't know how you would of reacted... you might of pissed yourself.

We're talking about a GANG of people, wielding sharp objects in a confined space.
the bottom line is, the people didn't know what the motive for hijacking the plane was..
they didn't know they were going to kamikaze into a damn building... and take out hundreds of other lives
if they knew that i'm sure as hell they would've tried harder to do something about it.
