Things your boss does that you can't stand

Every morning my boss walks the floor and in rapid succession he says "good morning, good morning, good morning" to each person. I don't think he realizes how fake it looks and sounds from the employee perspective.

Whats yours?

Can't estimate time. He's chronically late for everything because he has no sense of time. He also lies to try to get more work done. He creates emergencies that don't exist. Otherwise, he's pretty easy to deal with.

You're probably in the minority here - Most employees probably self consciously like that he's aware of their presence. I have a coworker who says good morning to the entire floor on his way in and while I don't particularly care, it is a nice gesture.

My boss is dutch and despite living in the US for a very long time, seems to still have some personality quirks that are strange to me, such as open ended comments and then silence afterwards that I feel like I have to respond to, even though there's no reason to. Then it's a shrug from him and move on. I think he's just a vocal, communicative person, whereas I keep to myself mostly.

my boss is awesome

no complaints

Same. I have an awesome boss. Left a higher-paying job to come where I'm at now & have stayed because I've had several excellent bosses. Makes a huge difference to me.

I'm actually not in the minority as we've discussed it. It is just so fast and rapid that it comes off cheap or like he doesn't really mean it. Just 'going through the motions' type feel to it. I see the effort but his delivery is woefully off.

Mine was getting fired, or rather RIF'd. Well 39 weeks severance plus cashing out my unused vacation time eased the pain. And your complaint is receiving a good morning? Try receiving a goodbye! It changes your perspective.

Damn man, sorry to hear that! In no way am I saying my complaint is in any way of the egregious sort. Certainly your situation is worse. Hopefully you're making a good comeback.

i typically like my boss [she is the IT manager] and get along well with her but:

she is a control freak sometimes
and is ridiculously disorganized

i think the worst thing is that lately she has been asking me to do piddly things she could do extraordinarily easily with all of the technical tools at her disposal. such as:
-look up this user and tell me x, y or z about them [search AD]
-i need to create a wordpress account, come help me with this [enter in email address]
-help me find an email you sent me [search emails i sent her. on her computer]
-can you paste this picture into onenote? [while she stares at one note, and the picture]
-can you remind me to do a thing tomorrow [while she has a new iphone and outlook]

it is getting pretty annoying. i am hoping its just because she is going out of town is 2 weeks and is being scatterbrained.

but i swear, if she starts asking me to place calls for her i am going to go nuts.

My boss used to catch me on the way out, and go over job planning on my time. It's a small shop, and I can't avoid him. Now I just say goodbye and leave.

Get this... my boss is a full blown anarchist. Thinks we would be fine without ANY government at all. He thinks society would build roads and shit without government. Can you believe how fucking stupid this guy is?

My boss is a rabid entrepreneur and small business owner. He constantly tries to buy random stuff thinking he'll be able to break into another business. For instance, he once bought a tractor planning to create a snow-removal business. ("Three times the width of a truck's plow!")

These things usually don't go anywhere. Fortunately, he always seems to have enough money left to pay his employees. :)

He surfs ATOT a lot and constantly mentions that he's a lawyer. He's a real twat.

Several things, but my boss is pretty new, and I think he avoids me a little bit and is trying to figure out how to interact with me to a degree.
