Things you had to replace that you thought would last forever

I'm about to head to Office Max to buy a new 3-hole punch. When I picked it up today, some paper circles fell out. Upon inspection, I noticed the plastic on the bottom had cracked. I never though I'd be replacing a hole punch.

What gadgets have you had to replace that you thought would last forever?

You're replacing it because the plastic piece on the bottom has a crack in it? Could you not just tape over the crack on the inside of this piece or otherwise repair it?

It doesn't want to stay on the metal body. The part that holds it on cracked. Worse, its warped to want to pull itself off. So I would need to tape it on every time. And to counteract the force of it trying to pull itself off I would need some decent tape. Too much hassle.
