I am going to Seattle next week for an interview. I am staying an extra day. What are some good places to see in a day.

Also it might help to know where you are staying and what kind of things you usually like to do.

12th Avenue? What's the exact address? There is no 12th avenue downtown, so I am going to assume it's actually in the U-District or farther north.

The U-district is my guess.

That was my thought as well, that's why I asked which hotel. Hmmm.

Pike Place Market. (Note the lack of "'s" on "Pike".)
Ballard Locks.
Space Needle.

Personally I think that Pike Place is the best of all of them.

Underground Tour is fun
Pike Place Market
(both of those are technically within walking distance, too)
Could pop down to the wharf from there, hit Ivar's for some fish n' chips
Aquarium is also down there.

EMP might be cool if you're really into music and have a burning desire to see artifacts and such, but otherwise it's "eh" in my opinion. Signed up as a charter member and checked it out a couple times with friends or people visiting seattle. It was just blah for me so I rarely recommend it.

Hmm, other stuff.... depends a bit on whether you want to go check out scenery or some sort of "event".

Seattle University Hotel is on 12th, could be that, I suppose. There's a holiday inn "Seattle" in Issaquah on 12th, too. Silver Cloud in Bellevue on ne 12th street.

In the event that you haven't seen Star Wars, the Cinerama is down on 4th (I think). Awesome, awesome theatre.

Bah. The EMP is a giant tumor located at the base of the Space Needle.

Pike Place Market (MAP) is a famous farmers market. Lots of little shops all around. It closes early, so make sure you visit in the afternoon.

Space Needle (MAP) is that big pointy tower you see in so many movies. It's part of the greater Seattle Center complex. There is an observation deck at the top as well as a gift shop at the base. The restaurant at the top is nice, but overpriced. It does rotate, so you get a 360-degree view during your meal.

EMP is also in the Seattle Center. Its a museum with some collectibles and some multi-media displays inside. BOYCOT THE TUMOR! :)

The Pacific Science Center is in the Seattle Center as well. They do laser light shows at 10PM and midnight. Getting messed up to watch Laser Floyd is way fun.

Beltown is just to the north of the Pike Place Market. Its an upscale trendy area with lot of little shops and good restaurants. Nice for lunch but nothing to sneeze over.

Pioneer Square (MAP) isn't just where all the bums hang out. There are tons of bars in the area and several good clubs.

The Seattle Underground Tour (MAP) is also in Pioneer Square. Its a bunch of tunnels under street level which show the original shops and such from Seattle during the late 1800s. Fire and such forced Seattle to rebuild. When they did, they build above the old city. This is basically some remains of the old.

The waterfront along Alaska Way (MAP) has all sorts of tourist traps. There is the Seattle Aquarium, an IMAX theatre, gift shops and lot of seafood restaurants. Good stuff.

Capitol Hill along Broadway (MAP) is the bohemian part of town. Its a mixture of fun bars, international restaurants and excentric shopping. Oh, and its the gay district. Its not flaming like DuPoint Circle in DC or the Castro District in SF, though, so if you don't go with that flow, you're safe. They don't bite. Much.

Fremont (MAP)is another bohemian part of town. Very straight, but lots of flower children who've suddenly come into money. They have street fairs all the time down there.

The U District (MAP) is where all of the college crowd hangs out. Not as much to do down there as you'd think. Its still fun and is somewhat lively on the weekends. University Way, aka "The Ave", is the main drag in the district with lots of shops, bars, clubs, and the like. The Washington Park Arboretum is nearby, which is a huge urban greenspace with lots of flower and tree gardens. If you're into hugging nature, this is the place.
