Things to do in San Francisco?

Will be in downtown SF for a week on business, any suggestions?

Staying at Le Meridien. Golden Gate bridge, Fisherman's warf, chinatown? Any good clubs/bars? Will be working NY hours. Never been to SF

I was there about a year ago. The wharf (we actually went to pier 39) was disappointing. Very touristy, and the food was expensive and not so good.

Chinatown was kind of neat, just plan to kind of walk on through though.

My favourite day was the day we just walked all around. Went down to the ferry building, then walked to chinatown, then up to Coit tower, then down to pier 39, then up to lombard street. The walk itself was pretty cool as we got to see a lot.

I really enjoyed the Cable Car Museum.
It's very small, and hot as hell inside...
It only takes 5-10min. to look at...
But it's pretty cool to see those 2 giant motors and pulleys that run the whole system.
BTW, they are still in operation today.

Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square are touristy, but you cannot go to SF and not go there.

Alcatraz is a must if you have the time.

There is also the GG Bridge, GG Park (De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences), cable cars, the baseball stadium (does it have another new name, yet?), Lombard Street, The Haight, Chinatown.

My favorite place to eat when I go back home to SF is House of Nanking (919 Kearny St @ Jackson Street). An absolute hole in the wall with absolutely the best chinse food I ahve ever had.

I was waiting for someone to post a gay response.

You have to see the performers by fishermans wharf, including the legendary scary homeless guy.

LoL

also, become gay. it's more fun in SF that way. 😱

anyhoo, I second the Alcatraz suggestion if you can devote a day's time to it. It's definitely worth it. The audio tour is spooky x100.

Agreed. I thought I was going to hate it, but ended up really enjoying it.

Beat me to it....

Some great sushi places... Lots of cheap good concerts (don't know how long you will be in town)
