Any tips on fun things for a couple to do in Vegas?

Also, I've never been to a casino.. and hints with that? I know how to play poker, and blackjack.. but know nothing about casino games. Is it acceptable to just show up as a n00b or what?

dealers are happy to help you learn the games, just be wary of the other players... sometimes they are not so patient

for cheap drinks find a sports book that comps drinks and put $2 bets on the horsies. cheap fun if you need a break from the higher stakes.

I'll be out there next week for work so also looking for something to do. Casinos, gambling, drinking are a given...probably will do Penn & Teller. Looking for recommendations on where to eat (expense report ftw!) and other stuff to do. There's a couple shooting rangers with full autos, saw one that has an M-249 which might be cool. Don't want to drive all the way out to the Grand Canyon. What hotel is that with the roller coaster on the roof or whatever? Might do that. Anyplace that still does bungee jumping?
 
Take a drive through Red Rock Canyon (spring for the fee to drive through park), it's about 45 min. from the strip.

You're not far from Hoover Dam/Lake Mead either.

Grand Canyon is a $300 helicopter ride, or like a 4 hr. drive.

 
go to each casino and sign up as a club member (you can only do this once in your life), many times they give you a free 20 bucks to gamble with on special slot machines. i did this when I went there and we won 400 bucks off of the free plays.
 
Food recommendation: Firefly on Paradise (tapas restaurant -- AWESOME!)

Excursion recommendation: Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (great hiking)

Interior sights: Drink waitresses at Hard Rock :Q
 
penn and teller's show SUCKS!

Go to the amazing jonaton instead if you want some illusions. at least he is funny

gun store is meh...costs like $15 each way in a cab, and everything is very expensive. I was somewhat disappointed, but they do have a nice selection of guns to shoot.



i would recommend KA @ MGM...great show
 
Food: Mesa in Cesears Palace (Bobby Flays joint)

Pork Tenderloin is a must. The stuffed chile for a side as well. For a starter you can't go wrong with the Queso. The lobster ceviceh is great as well.

Dining: Make a reservation - middle of the week is still packed and you will wait for an hour or more unless you make a reservation either the day before or day of dining.

i've never been to the mesa grill in vegas, but have in new york. It was horrible. Probably my worst fine dining experience I've had. The food was lackluster. I'm sure Bobby Flay is a good cook, but he has way too many restaurants/tv shows/etc, to keep an eye on all of them to make sure the quality is up to par.
